Small Changes Make a Big Impact

If your site isn't all that you want it to be, but you don't have the budget to have it redone, consider making some small changes, like the ones listed below, to create a big impact on the look of your site.

Streamline your fonts:
If your site uses a variety of fonts, pick one, and use that consistently throughout the site. Same thing goes for font size. Make all page headers the same size and type of font and ditto for page text. Make links that are near each other consistent in size and color.

Pare down the font effects:
Use special font styles like all caps, bolded/underlined words sparingly. When every sentence screams for attention, none of them seem important. Also limit the use of exclamation points.

Format images:
Make images the same or similar size and format, especially if you have several images like thumbnails all one page together. Due to size and image orientation, it may not be possible for all images to be exactly the same dimensions, but size them proportionately to one another and format them similarly; either put borders on all the images, or on none.

Remember, small changes can go a long way to creating a cleaner, crisper, more professional look for your site.
