Fewer Buttons Please
It's a common misconception that the more choices we have, the happier we are. Actually, the more choices we have, the more confused we are. This is true on the web too - when there are too many buttons and links to click, visitors get overwhelmed - and leave. Streamline your site and distill the number of links down to the minimum; this makes it easier for visitors to process the information on your site and find what they are looking for. Turn Down the Noise
Adding video or audio to your site can be a great asset in helping show visitors more about your company and/or products. Just make sure the video or audio clips aren't set to play automatically. Colors, Colors Everywhere
Colors that are too bright or harsh are hard to look at online and could potentially drive away customers. Bright yellows and "neon" shades come across as very "loud" on a monitor and viewers can feel "blinded" by the brightness of these types of colors.
Choose colors that blend well and are pleasing to look at together. Colors in the same family usually blend well together and are easy on the eyes. If you are using stock photos, choose ones that match the tones in the overall color scheme of your site for a uniform and polished look.
